Tuesday Tidbits

My desktop weather shows it's 28 degrees out. I thought we left this cold weather up north. I don't like it. I don't like it that my feet are cold because I'll have to put socks on soon and I hate socks.

Peanut has her very first band concert 2 weeks from yesterday. She took her clarinet to Indiana with us to practice. She was getting ready to walk out the door yesterday for school and I hear "Where's my clarinet?" Yep, it was still at Superman's parents house. They UPS'd it so it will hopefully be here tomorrow.

Yes, I said Indiana. I don't know that I've ever said anything except "up north". Way up north. Like, an hour from the Michigan state line, way up north. That's where we're from and where we visit. I hate driving through Indiana, it's such a long, boring state when you have to drive bottom to almost top. The roads are straight and flat and frankly, seeing all the Colts stuff while we were there made me ill. We don't like Indiana. Maybe I should write a post about it sometime but I wouldn't want to offend any Hoosier readers.

Yesterday I said I think I gained 10 lbs of holiday chub all in one holiday. I can't believe I weighed myself after holiday traveling but the actual number is 4.4 lbs. I hope to get rid of it again before Christmas so when I gain that much more it's still only that much and not the 10 lbs I worry about.

This is a crazy week for Superman. Tomorrow night he has choir practice, Thursday night we get to see Downhere at this(!), Friday night our church choir (including Superman) is singing with The Gaithers at their Homecoming Christmas Concert, Saturday night is our church choir's Christmas concert and they perform again Sunday night. So tonight is pretty much his last evening home until next Monday. Exhausting, but next week is totally open before another crazy week starts.

It was so good to see the dogs again yesterday! Jack was just ready to get out the door but Melvin wanted some love first. He saw me and jumped up with such force I almost lost my balance! He's the rowdy one but he sure is a lover too. He tried to hold my hand most of the way home. For reals, if my hand is where my can reach it he puts his paw in my hand like to shake but keeps it there. So sweet.

I lost 4 evenings of knitting while we were gone. Those were very important considering I'm still working on the 2nd hoodie and have 1 more to make before Christmas. I took it with me but with so many pieces to it, it was just too much to work on at someone else's house. I did take a smaller project with me though and was able to knock that out! I got back to the hoodie last night and worked until my eyes were crossing. I plan to do the same tonight because to keep up with my schedule I need to be mostly done with it tomorrow night and start the next one.

Speaking of last night, I was a little ticked. Princess did poorly on a test. Her teacher gave her an assignment and if it wasn't done she'd have to miss their field trip today. I don't think so. I already paid for this trip, she's going. But Princess had to rewrite each math problem 10 times. The whole test. Plus she had regular homework. Plus she had math club after school so she didn't get home until 5:00. I didn't think it was quite fair, don't threaten to keep her from going on the stinkin' field trip, ya know? And I think writing the entire test 10 times was way too much. Especially considering my little Princess, only 9 years old, didn't finish and get to bed until just after midnight. Not cool. Have I mentioned how much we hope Peanut gets into the magnet school so Princess and Little Dude can also get out of metro's public school system?

I think that's all that was on my mind today. Now, I have to break down and go put some socks on. My little piggies are just too cold.

Wow, That math assignment was not cool at all that is for sure. Oh yeah if I teacher told my kid that she was not going on a Field Trip I PAID for... uhh.. I'd be right in her class room the next morning.. geesh!

I live in Indiana - I am not offended that you dont like it. I am like 5 miles from the Kentucky and Ohio borders. We don't root for the Colts we are Bengals fans here in my neck of the woods. :D (We are 30 miles outside of Cincinnati) I would like to hear the story on Indiana tho.. It wont offend me.

I keep trying to watch what I eat and eat a bit more healthier but I just cant break the routine I am in. I wish all the running around we all have to do would just melt the pounds right away. *sigh* If only!

Have a great week.

Ugh, I'm freezing, too! It's 45 degrees today in Houston. And, we don't have the heater on because apparently my DH is going through MAN-opause and is having hot flashes. In his words, "ya'll can layer and cover-up, I can't just run around naked because I'm hot." ... Fooey to that.

And, oh my dear at Princess' teacher!!! The whole test 10 times?!!! That's WAY too much for a 9 year old and I say this coming from an education background. TOO MUCH!! If I were you, next time I'd call the school and talk to the teacher about it. Sometimes teachers act out of irritation instead of truly assigning that work to help the student.

By the way, your CAPTCHA reads 'dying' .... How morose. :-P

I don't even want to think about how much I gained in the past week. Ugh. Salad time! Ah ha. Can you send some of that weather my way? We're still sweating in Florida.

I think doing the math test 10 times is totally ridiculous. She was being punished not learning from that activity. I could see requiring her to re-do the ones she got wrong as a learning experience, but what the teacher did, in my eyes, was mean.

back in the olden days my teachers used to beat us if we failed too much. we were VERY progressive lol.

nowadays though the punishment she got is way too extreme. she must've been heartbroken poor dear.

Okay, as a teacher, I think that is a bit much. YOu are not making her LEARN anything more, just write a bunch of stuff. If you want her to master the content, help her and give her an alternate test to do over. Then maybe she'll master the content rather than how to write a problem, huh??
